In February I drove from Vancouver to Mammoth Hot Springs at Yellowstone National Park. Only 2 hotels are open in Yellowstone in the Winter … Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel at Mammoth Hot Springs and Snow Lodge at Old Faithful. You can drive to Mammoth but then need to arrange a snow coach to go to Snow Lodge. With this trip being my first time at Yellowstone in the Winter I decided to stay at Mammoth and then take some day excursions to the Lamar Valley and Norris Basin.
Everything about the hotel … staff/rooms/dining options/lounge was great and the extra day trip excursions are well worth the cost. Below is a small selection of the photos I took during my trip. Note that some of the photos were taken with a 200mm telephoto lens so while I may look “close” to the animals … I wasn’t!
If you have never visited Yellowstone in the Winter I would highly recommend a trip … ps. Yesterday I reserved a Winter Package for Winter 2019 … but next year at Snow Lodge at Old Faithful!
